Event Announcing Services
Bill offers a comprehensive, professional announcer experience.
Work starts in the days leading up to the event: looking at confirmed athlete lists to get a feel as to who the players will be, and prepare some brief highlights/talking points about them.
If the event is part of an on-going series, Bill notes the top athletes in each respective category to be able to convey how that “race within a race” is unfolding; researching the course, any defining characteristics of it, and some history as to how prior editions have played out; looking at the weather forecast for that area, to note how race time conditions may affect the racing.
Bill also consults with the promoter/race directors for advance notes on any specific sponsor and partner requirements and mentions, or any other information they would like talked about, so that he can preview them and be able to offer the most seamless delivery of their messaging.
Unless otherwise requested, Bill arrives at race venues a minimum 1 hour prior to the first race. This allows him plenty of time to set-up, consult with promoters and officials on any specific race-day adjustments, and, when feasible, time to walk the course to help align with any notes he’s made.
Bill brings his own wireless microphone, and over 16 hours’ worth of appropriate music. This includes start-line specific music to help amp up the athletes and crowd, as well as podium-specific music to help highlight the top finishers and award winners.
From there, his aim is to do his part in creating the most informative and entertaining atmosphere for athletes and crowds alike, leaving everyone excited about their experience.
Interviews:
When feasible/requested, Bill conducts pre and post-race interviews with select athletes, from storied champions to local hometown heroes. He engages them in a way that they are comfortable and confident in detailing their outlook on the event, what the event means to them, what it took them to earn their honors, and being generous in their appreciation for the event staff, host venues and towns, and event sponsors and partners.
Voiceovers & Livestreams:
When voiceover work is requested, Bill takes detailed notes during the events that will be highlighted so that he can review them after and have all the pertinent information at hand to be able to concisely depict how an event unfolded in the amount of time deemed proper.
Pricing:
Pricing is dependent on the scope and timeline of the event. Multi-day events will receive a 10% discount. Events within a 3 hour travel radius from Bill’s home base (Easton, PA) are not charged any mileage; events further than 3 hrs are charged mileage in addition to the announcing rate. For events where air travel is necessary, event promoter is responsible for providing travel fees in addition to the announcing fee. For events that require overnight stay prior or after, event promoters are responsible for providing accommodations in addition to the announcing fee.
2021 Nittany Cross Recap Voiceover
“Bill is, quite honestly, the perfect announcer. Not only is his pitch deep and resonant – making him incredibly easy to “hear” on the microphone, but he’s clearly put a lot of work into his speech and inflection. His efficiency of language makes it easy for both the athletes and crowds to hear; he knows when to build excitement and punches on the right points, but allows the airspace to breathe when appropriate; and he also pays attention to the language he uses, rarely using filler words making for strong communication and adding to the entertainment value of the event.
Lastly his deep knowledge of the sport and the players make him an invaluable member of the team. I have relied on Bill not just for high quality announcing for events at the highest level, but for his sage counsel behind the scenes when facing operational or field of play questions. ”
